Kristin Mathes, LCSW
Therapist and Founder
We all navigate life carrying traumas, difficult upbringings, or current circumstances that prevent us from living a healthy and fruitful life. These environmental factors can affect everything we do now - from our physical health, how we trust and relate to others, to how we see ourselves and how we navigate the world. By specializing in somatic therapies, trauma informed, eco therapy lens my goal is to help you understand your nervous system, your body, self, and the environment around you better so you can reduce your symptoms and take control of your healing.

As humans, we all share a deep desire to feel understood and accepted, which is why I put relationship and connection at the core of all healing work. I believe when we work to heal our scars, traumas, or pain, a ripple effect of healing transcends into our relationships, families, communities, and those to come.
As both a licensed psychotherapist and outdoor enthusiast - I’ve experienced firsthand how our relationship with the natural world and adventure can be the perfect place to practice new skills, embody new relationships to our self and others, practice vulnerability, self-confidence, and increase our capacity for doing hard things. For this reason I was inspired to create Emerge Surf and Somatic Therapy to bring together the essentials for life changing experiences including therapy, adventure, Mother Nature, community, travel, and culture through surf therapy programs, workshops, and weekend adventures around the world.
